Bluer Skies Wait For Me (Chapter 9)
Back"I haven't been completely truthful with you either." "What'd you mean?" "See, I have something called Fibromyalgia [A.N. i really have this so i'm just using it cause i know about it. It's not important that you know anymore than Jordan will explain] It's not as serious or anything. It just causes pain, fatigue, and stuff. I don't tell people either cause i don't wanna be the sick kid." "So you're like always in pain?" he asked quietly. "Yeah, some days are worse than others, but there's always something." He came and sat down next to me. "So something hurts right now?" "Yeah, my leg and my shoulders." He didn't say anything. He just reached up and rubbed my shoulders. "Does that help?" "Yeah, but you don't have to..." "I know, but I want to." "Thanks." The front door opened. "Mommy, i'm home!" Joe called. "Oh hey guys." He glared at Nick. "Don't tell him yet," I whispered to Nick. "I won't. It'll be our secret, okay?" "Thanks." "Hi Joseph," Denise said, coming in. "Dinner'll be ready in about 20 minutes, okay?" I loved how she didn't even ask if i was staying. "Okay," we all said, and she left. "Mommy, Joe?" I said. "Yeah, he still calls our mom Mommy," Nick explained. "That's kinda cute." Joe sat down next to Nick and whispered, "Well, that backfired, didn't it?" Nick didn't respond. "So what are you guys up to?" he asked, returning to a level that i could hear. "Well, we were attempting to do my math homework, but we couldn't, so we kinda just stopped," I explained. "All right, children, watch the master," he said, taking my textbook. "You? The master of math?" Nick said laughing. "Be quiet." He looked down at the textbook. "Wow, are you sure you're just in 9th grade?" "Accelerated program." "Accelerated to what? college?" "No, Joe, this is like 11th grade or something." "Well, I'm in 10th grade, so it's okay that i don't know this then." "I think Nick knew more than you did," I said, laughing. "What?" "Yeah, he was able to figure out the first part." "What? How? He's in 8th grade." "Yeah, but I'm the smart one." "You know, i'm just gonna go ask Kevin," I said, getting up. "He probably won't be able to help. He can barely help me," Nick said, laughing. "It's worth a shot," I said already partially up the stairs. The two boys sat there for a second. "Well, I'm gonna go to my room," Joe said casually. "You're just going to your room cause Jordan's in there." "What? No, I didn't really connect that." "Normally, I'd believe you were too slow to connect that, but this has to do with a girl." "First of all, shut up. Second of all, it's my room, i can go there whenever i want." He started up the stairs. "If you think i'm letting you go up there alone, you're crazy," Nick said, hurrying to follow. "If you think i'm letting you into my room, you're the one that's crazy." "Well, there's nothing you can do if i get there first." Nick pushed Joe and ran to his and Kevin's room. I was sitting at the desk and Kevin was leaning over me, showing me how to do the problem. We both looked at Nick confused. Half a second later, Joe showed up behind him. Kevin sighed and went back to helping me. When i was looking away, Joe hit the back of Nick's head. Nick turned around and pushed Joe. Next thing we knew they were on the ground wrestling. "Just ignore them," Kevin said. "Shouldn't we get your parents or something?" "No, they'll beat the crap out of each other, and be done with it. I hope." I laughed. "Okay, so you flip the graph like this?" "Yeah." "You two need to chill," Kevin said after I had left. He had brought them to his and Joe's room. "Tell that to Mr. thief over here," Nick snapped. "Tell that to Mr. Baby over here," Joe responded. "See, this is exactly what i'm talking about. You're making Jordan uncomfortable." "You're making that up!" Joe snapped. "Wanna bet? She told me after dinner that she felt like you guys didn't like her or something cause you were always arguing around her. She was saying that maybe it might be better if she stopped coming for awhile." Nick ran his fingers through his hair. "God. What'd you tell her?" "I told her it had nothing to do with her and that it would get better," Kevin explained. Then he looked threateningly at them. "So it BETTER get better. she needs us." "See what you did," Nick snapped at Joe, near tears, and ran out of the room. ----------- What's Nick gonna do? What's Joe gonna do? Will Jordan stop going over?? terrible cliff i know. kinda boring. We're almost there to the good stuff. May post another tonight. 5 comments isn't going well, but i'm gonna say it again. if i get 5 comments by the time i go to bed tonight i'll post before school!!
